The Kindle Phenomenon

Want to buy a Kindle for yourself?

There's a brisk new breeze rustling through the bookbusiness -- and Amazon.com is the power behind it. On November 19, 2007, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos began making the media rounds touting "Kindle", Amazon's entry into the E-Book Reader market.

Earlier in 2007, Sony had introduced such a reader in the U.S., and their sales were good but not great. But online bookseller Amazon.com, where more than 11% of all the book sales in the U.S. are made, has now entered the fray with a lightweight, wireless device that doesn't require a computer and a screen technology that can be used in any light situation (even full sunlight), and they  immediately sold out the first production run -- and the second . . . and it hasn't stopped there!

We think they're onto something -- something that will spawn an entirely new market for books, distributed by a powerhouse book source! And we want you and your work to be a part of it.

We are now equipped to help you get your book (or E-book) onto the Kindle platform, and we believe that such a move is a very good idea for any author. The combination of the power of Amazon and the extreme pressures in the book industry tell us that this new way of reading now has a better-than-average chance of turning into a genuine trend and a real marketing opportunity. There are two levels of service available.

Kindle Basic Service -- $75.00
Make your book or E-book available for instant download. You set the retail price and collect 35% of that amount on every single sale.

We will set up your book for Kindle, upload it into the Amazon Kindle store, locate it in up to five (5) buying categories, link it to previous ISBN listings of the same title on the original Amazon.com web site (if your book is already listed with Amazon.com), and preview the upload, making any small corrections that may be needed to maximize the quality of the uploaded content.

Kindle Plus Service -- $115.00
This enhanced service includes all of the items shown in Kindle Basic and requires the same submissions. In addition, section breaks for all front matter, back matter and chapter divisions will be added, and the table of contents will be hyperlinked for reader convenience. We will also provide you with the converted Kindle HTML file for your review and revision, if needed. We recommend this level of service to assure the highest level of reader satisfaction.
__________

What we will need from you (for either level of service)
Your Amazon.com book-buying account ID and password (will be held in strict confidentiality and destroyed when your book has been uploaded) -- if you don't have an Amazon.com account, go to their site and open one -- it's free. Amazon.com and Kindle accounts will then have the same user ID and password, and we will need those to properly register you and upload your book
A voided check from the account that will receive direct deposit payments from the Kindle store (this documentation will also be securely held and destroyed once your Kindle store account is set up).
Your manuscript, supplied to us as a PDF file, HTML file, Microsoft Word document or Rich Text file (PDF or HTML are preferred). Files may be e-mailed, sent via FTP, or provided on a CD. Full instructions will be sent when you sign up for the service.
A front cover image of your book (if available). Details on this submission will also be provided when you sign up for the service.
